New Delhi. The CBI today filed a status report in the Supreme Court in the case of rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. Meanwhile, the West Bengal government has submitted its status report regarding the large number of people reaching the crime scene. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the CBI, said that on the basis of the forensic report, the victim’s body was found in a semi-nude state, her clothes were lying nearby and there were wounds on her body.
In the Supreme Court, the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra questioned the CBI report that what is the distance between the medical college and the house of former principal Sandeep Ghosh? At what time was the case of unnatural death registered and when was the scene of the incident investigated and evidence collected? The bench has asked the CBI to file a new status report on September 16 and has fixed September 17 for the hearing of the case. At the same time, Kapil Sibal, the lawyer appearing on behalf of the West Bengal government, told the court that when the doctors were on strike, 23 people died due to lack of treatment. Sibal said this on the basis of the report of the state health department.
SG Tushar Mehta said that we have not yet received a copy of the reply filed by the West Bengal government. On this, Sibal said that we have just submitted a copy of the reply in the court. Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that the CBI’s status report shows that the investigation is progressing. In this case, we do not want to give any guidance to the CBI for investigation, along with this he gave one week’s time to the CBI to take the investigation forward and file a new status report.
