The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to have a major administrative change. The discussion of making BCCI vice -president Rajiv Shukla as acting president has intensified amid speculation of the current president of the board Roger Binny. According to sources, Roger Binny may soon resign from his post for personal reasons, and Shukla may be temporarily given the command of the board.
Rajiv Shukla is a well-known name in Indian cricket administration. He has been associated with BCCI for a long time and has played his role in important positions like the Chairman of the IPL Governing Council in the past. He is currently the vice president of the BCCI and has an active participation in several important decisions of the board.
According to a senior BCCI official, “If Roger Binny formally resigns, Rajiv Shukla will be given the responsibility of acting president. He has experience and confidence of all senior officials. So he is a natural option.”
However, no official confirmation has been made by the BCCI so far. But it is expected that it may be formally announced in the next few days. If Shukla is made the acting president, it will be an important step keeping in mind the upcoming domestic and international cricket season.
From politics to sports administration, Rajiv Shukla’s journey has been quite impressive. He has the experience of media, sports and parliament -three fields, which suits them for this challenging role. Under his leadership, in which direction the BCCI will move forward, everyone’s eyes will remain on.
