The Supreme Court on Wednesday fixed a petition related to Rohingya refugees for next week, saying that no child would be discriminated against in the case of education. The petition requested the court to instruct the Central and Delhi Government to provide access to government schools and hospitals to Rohingya refugees in Delhi. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh said that no discrimination in education and said that the court only wants to know where these Rohingya families are living, who are living in their house and what is their details. .

Hearing will be held after 10 days

On behalf of NGO ‘Rohingya Human Rights Initiative’, Senior Advocate Colin Gonzalvis said that he has filed an affidavit and gave detailed information and said that Rohingya refugees have cards issued by UNHCR (United Nations Refugee High Commissioner). Justice Suryakant said that if these Rohingya families have these cards then it will be easy for the NGO to give details. Gonzalvis then sought some time from the court to give more details. The court fixed the hearing of the case for 10 days later. Earlier on January 31, the apex court told the NGO to tell the court where the Rohingya refugees settled in the city and what facilities are available to them. At the same time, he had filed an affidavit from Gonzalvis and asked him to tell about his bases in Delhi.

NGO lawyer said this

Gonzalvis had said that the NGO has demanded to provide access to schools and hospitals to Rohingya refugees, as they are not being given admission due to lack of Aadhaar cards. He had said, “They are refugees who have UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for refugees) and hence they cannot have Aadhaar cards.” However, due to lack of Aadhaar card, they are not being accessible to schools and hospitals. ”Gonzalvis said that Rohingya refugees live in Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj and Khajuri special areas of Delhi. He said, “He is living in slums in Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj and he is living in rented houses in Khajuri Khas.”
