Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has emphasized the immediate need for revival and reconstruction of traditional Indian family values.
The RSS chief concluded his five -day visit to Aligarh calling out the Sangh workers to maintain and promote important principles for social harmony and national revival.
In a conversation with the RSS officials of Brij region of Central Uttar Pradesh on the last day of his visit on Monday, Bhagwat emphasized the immediate need to revive and reconstruct traditional Indian family values and described it as “the foundation stone of Indian society”.
He reminded people of the basic practices that have been part of family life since ancient times. Emphasizing shared food in the family, he said that the value of family celebrations like meals becomes the axis of the moral standards of the society. Bhagwat said that the second basic principle needs to develop the value of “harmony” that leads to harmony within society and removes social stress.
He urged the RSS campaigners to actively work towards eliminating caste-based discrimination. He described caste-based discrimination as a divisive force that weakens social fabric.
Bhagwat remembered Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar for socially united and equal to the foundation of India. He said, “The nation is indebted to Ambedkar for reforming and communicating a sense of justice in modern India.”
On economic matters, the RSS chief underlined the importance of reviving Swadeshi’s spirit and urged people to protect domesticly manufactured products based on indigenous traditions and skills.
He said that indigenous ethos not only strengthens the economy but also preserves cultural heritage.
Bhagwat also called for more attention to environmental protection. He underlined the need to protect India’s natural heritage, including its wildlife and traditional systems of water management such as the ponds and lakes of the village.
The RSS chief insisted on promoting ‘civil responsibility’. He emphasized that it is the duty of every citizen to contribute to nation building in his daily conduct.
