Kollam: Controversy has arisen when the RSS sang ‘Gan Gayam’ (prayer song) has arisen during a concert organized by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) in Kottukkal in Kollam district in Kerala. The Congress has demanded strict action against the culprits in this case. The song was presented by members of a professional music troupe during the ‘Gana Mela’ (concert) held at the temple on Sunday morning.
Accused of putting RSS flags in the temple premises
According to the police, it is also alleged that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) flags were placed in the temple premises in connection with the festival. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly VD Satishan said that the singing of ‘RSS Gangitham’ during the temple festival is a serious concern ‘and urged TDB to take immediate and strict action against those responsible for it.
What did the opposition say?
VD Satishan said in a statement that the violation took place in the temple managed by TDB, while the High Court had ruled that temples should not be used for political events. He said, the Devaswom Board and the government should be ready to take immediate and strong action against the people involved in it. The temple belongs to the devotees, politicizing the temple complex and festivals reflects the small mindset. (With language inputs)
