Petrol bomb thrown outside cinema hall in Tamil Nadu

There is an uproar in Tamil Nadu regarding the film ‘Amaran’. Some unidentified miscreants threw petrol bombs at a cinema hall in Tirunelveli on Saturday morning. Actor Sivakarthikeyan’s film ‘Amaran’ was being shown in this theatre. Police investigating the incident said that there were no casualties in the incident. The Hindu Munnani Organization said that the police detained a group of activists of the organization for allegedly entering the cinema hall after the incident and they were later released.

Police said, “Two miscreants threw petrol bombs inside the wall of the cinema complex in Melapalayam. This caused an explosion. However, no one was injured and there was no damage to property.” Strongly condemning the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu unit vice president Narayanan Tirupati alleged that “Islamic fundamentalists like SDPI, MNMK, Tauheed Jamaat The organizations had earlier protested against ‘Amaran’, the biography of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his gallantry during the counter-terrorism operation.

Muslims are shown as terrorists, this is not true

Those who protested said that it showed Muslims as terrorists, which is not true. Tirupathi alleged in a post on social media platform Shown as a patriot. “But since the film did not tolerate the depiction of terrorist activities in Kashmir, fundamentalist organizations threatened against the release of the film.” However, the people of Tamil Nadu welcomed the film and made it a huge success, he said. Narayanan said that unable to digest this, fundamentalist organizations today resorted to violence and threw petrol bombs outside the cinema hall where the film ‘Amaran’ was being screened.

People who went to meet the theater owner were detained

According to a leader of Hindu Munnani, some members led by the organisation’s state vice president V P Jayakumar had reportedly gone to the theater to console the theater owner, but were detained by the police. “We were stopped at the entrance of the cinema hall,” a senior official said. The police stopped us from going inside and claimed that we had gathered to protest but we clarified that we were there only to console the aggrieved theater owner.” Jayakumar had an argument with the police. He later said that his party members had not gathered to protest. He said, “The police also stopped us from meeting the media persons gathered near the cinema hall.” (Input- PTI language)
