New Delhi. India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar spoke openly about the ongoing dispute with Canada during an event organized in New Delhi today. Delhi: EAM S. Jaishankar says, “I will talk about the whole West, as they are civilizationally and culturally connected. However, not all of them are on the same page, and not everyone understands this. Regarding America, I would argue that there is understanding there… Over… pic.twitter.com/UQ935EUO7K

While participating in NDTV’s World Summit program, Jaishankar also talked about India’s relations with western countries. He said that in the last seven years, the Quad has evolved significantly. When I visit Europe, the US and North America, these are the countries that recognize the value of working with India. Unfortunately, Canada does not understand this, possibly due to political compulsions of the Canadian government. Although I can only speculate on the reasons, the world is very pragmatic in this respect and I would say Canada is lagging behind.
#WATCH Delhi: At a Summit, EAM Dr S Jaishankar says “…Sometime ago you would have said we will deal with Canada later, let’s talk about the US. Now for some inexplicable reason, you are saying we will talk about US later, let’s talk about Canada first…To some extent, I… pic.twitter.com/BtNcnetDNc

On the patrolling agreement with China on LAC, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said Galwan and Depsang are areas where, for various reasons after 2020, they had blocked us and we had banned them. What has happened now is that we have reached an agreement which will allow both to patrol. Depsang is not the only place, the agreement is that we will be able to resume patrolling which we were doing in 2020. The Foreign Minister said that India and China are the only two countries where more than one billion people live. We have a definite civilizational history, and today we are on the path of economic recovery or rejuvenation. There is no doubt that anyone making growth predictions this century cannot leave India and China out of the equation. We are very prominent and important in this regard.
Delhi: On whether India will be able to patrol in the areas of Galwan and Depsang, EAM S. Jaishankar says, “No, you see, there are areas where, for various reasons after 2020, they had blocked us, and we had blocked them. What has happened now is that we have reached an… pic.twitter.com/wvCTIzgZMY

However, the challenge here is that we are neighbors and we have an unresolved border issue, the External Affairs Minister said. Both countries are moving forward, and when two big neighbors rise together, it is not easy, our capabilities, influence and ambitions will change. We would both naturally want to be bigger, more visible, and more influential in the world. The bigger issue for us is how to achieve balance in our relationship.
Delhi: EAM S. Jaishankar says, “…On India-China, if you look at it, we are the only two countries with more than a billion people. We have a certain civilizational history, and today we are on a track of economic recovery or rejuvenation. There is no question that anyone… pic.twitter.com/F8JGnte5LB
