Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to the people who had tolerated “upheaval and pain” during the partition of India on Partition Carpet Memorial Day.
Sharing a post, PM Modi called Partition a “tragic chapter” in Indian history.
Prime Minister Modi wrote, “The Partition of India celebrates the Vibhishika Memorial Day and remembers the upheaval and suffering faced by countless people during that tragic chapter in our history. It is also the day to honor their patience, unimaginable damage and yet their ability to get the strength to start renewed.”
Giving the message of unity, he urged the public to strengthen harmony in the country.
The Prime Minister wrote, “Many of the affected people rebuilt their lives and achieved remarkable achievements. This day also reminds us of our permanent responsibility of strengthening the bond of harmony in one thread.”
Earlier today, Union Health Minister and BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda called for national unity and called for “giving a befitting reply to anti -national forces”.
Paying tribute to millions of people who sacrificed their lives while suffering the pain of displacement, the senior BJP leader said in a post on X, “The black day of 1947 reminds us of the cruel incident when the citizens of the country have suffered their home, property and life while suffering the ruthless pain of migration and torturing inhuman torture.”
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “The tradition of celebrating this day to keep the memory of the partition of the country alive is an important step towards nation building.”
Calling the national unity, the post said, “Come, on this day all our citizens should unite and resolve to maintain the unity and integrity of the nation and give a befitting reply to the anti -national forces.”
On August 14, India celebrates ‘Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day’ to pay tribute to those who lost and displaced their lives during the partition of the country in 1947.
India gained independence from British rule on 15 August 1947. Independence Day, celebrated on 15 August every year, is an opportunity of happiness and pride for any nation; However, along with the sweetness of freedom, the trauma of partition also came together. Along with the birth of the new-independent Indian nation, there was violent suffering of partition, which left an indelible mark on millions of Indians.
Partition caused one of the largest excesses in human history, affecting about 2 crore people. Millions of families had to leave their ancestral villages/towns/cities and were forced to find a new life as a refugee.
Pain of division and violence is deeply inscribed in the memory of the nation. Celebrating its freedom, a gratitude nation also salutes the sons and daughters of its beloved motherland who sacrificed his life in the frenzy of violence.
