New Delhi. Mamta Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale has publicly apologized to former India diplomat Laxmi Puri in the defamation case. Saket Gokhale wrote on the social media post that I apologize unconditionally for my tweets against Lakshmi Puri on 13 June and 23 June 2021. In these tweets, I had made misleading allegations against Laxmi Puri about the purchase of her property abroad, I am very sorry about this. Following the court order, Saket Gokhale has apologized to Lakshmi Puri.

Giving information about this, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has said that Saket Gokhale has also published an apology in a newspaper. Former diplomat Lakshmi Puri is the wife of Union Minister Hardeep Singh. TMC MP Saket Gokhale had demanded an inquiry into the case by Laxmi Puri, alleging that the case was purchased in Switzerland. Laxmi Puri had filed a defamation case against Saket Gokhale.
The Delhi High Court termed Saket Gokhale as defamation and ordered him to give a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the petitioner Laxmi Puri. Also, get an apology printed in the newspaper in Times of India and post an apology on your social media handle X as well. The court also said that this apology should not be deleted for 6 months. Along with this, he had also instructed Saket Gokhale to delete all the posts related to Lakshmi Puri and not to comment any kind or comment about her in future. Although Saket Gokhale has filed a petition challenging the order to pay Rs 50 lakhs, but has completed the order for apologizing.
