Senior Congress leader and former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid has recently made a big statement about the India-Pakistan ceasefire in an interview. He said that Pakistan first called India for the ceasefire. He was further asked if the UPA government had made an attack on Pakistan like a surgical strike, he said that “we did not attack, we had talked – at the DGMO level.”
The statement came at a time when the discussion has intensified once again about the incident of the Indian soldiers beheaded by Pakistan on LoC in 2013. Reacting to this, Khurshid said that the situation was very sensitive at that time and the government had taken strict steps, but the military attack was not carried out.
He said, “Our government had talked to Pakistan at the DGMO level, so that such incidents do not happen further. We had lodged concrete protests, but we did not take the path of war or attack.”
Khurshid’s statement comes at a time when there is political fierce fierce fierce fierce surgical strike between BJP and Congress and action against terrorism. The BJP has often claimed that the Modi government first carried out a surgical strike against Pakistan in 2016.
Although the Congress says that the cross -border action has been taking place earlier, but its political advantage was not taken. Salman Khurshid’s statement has further strengthened this debate.
