Sambhal District Magistrate (DM) Rajendra Pencia said on Tuesday that animals will not be allowed to sacrifice in public places during Bakrid and strict action will be taken against anyone trying to disrupt the public system.
Pencia said in a press conference that a meeting of the Peace Committee was called before the festival, which also included representatives from areas where Eid prayers would be done.
The festival of Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid in the country will be celebrated on Saturday (June 7).
He said, “All stakeholders were consulted. The sacrifice will be given only at 19 pre-marked sites. No public or open space will be used for the sacrifice of animals.”
The DM said that the slaughter of banned animals has been banned for years and no such incident has taken place in the last five years.
Pencia said, “Eid prayers are expected to be in a peaceful manner. The administration will ensure proper arrangements for water, electricity and cleanliness.”
He said that religious leaders have been advised to complete the rituals of sacrifice from June 7 to June 9 at 3 pm.
Asked whether preventive measures have been taken against some people, Pencia said, “Preventive sanctions against about 900 to 950 people are already applicable. Strict legal action will be taken on any attempt to disturb the peace.”
DM said, “We have clearly instructed that no video of the sacrifice should be posted on social media.”
