Allahabad High Court on Wednesday stayed further hearing in the case filed regarding the dispute related to Jama Masjid in Sambhal. Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal passed this order while hearing the revision petition filed by the management committee of Jama Masjid located in Sambhal.
This revision petition has been filed after the order of the Supreme Court. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, the maintainability of the suit before the Sambhal District Court was challenged.
It has been alleged in this petition that this suit was filed on 19 November 2024, after which within a few hours the judge appointed an advocate commissioner and directed him to conduct a preliminary survey of the mosque. This survey was conducted on the same day and was conducted again on 24 November 2024. The district court had also directed that the survey report be filed by November 29.
After hearing both the sides, the High Court ordered the defendant to file his reply within four weeks and fixed February 25 as the next date of hearing. Advocate Harishankar Jain and seven others have filed a suit before the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division), Sambhal, arguing that Jama Masjid has been constructed by demolishing a temple.
