Be careful. Advocate Commissioner Ramesh Singh Raghav will file the survey report of Jama Masjid located in Sambhal, UP in the court on Monday. As per the instructions of the Supreme Court, the Court Commissioner will submit his survey report in a sealed envelope to the court of Civil Judge Senior Division. On the orders of Civil Judge Senior Division, Court Commissioner Ramesh Singh Raghav had surveyed the Jama Masjid of Sambhal and got photography and videography done there. Along with the survey report, all the photos and videos will also be submitted to the court. The Hindu side claims that there was a Shri Harihar temple here. Jama Masjid was built by demolishing it on the orders of Mughal emperor Babar.
Hindu side’s lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain had filed the case before the Civil Judge Senior Division in Sambhal on November 19. On the same day, the court had ordered a commissioner survey. After which in the evening Ramesh Singh Raghav went to conduct survey with the lawyers of Hindu and Muslim sides. Due to it being evening, the Court Commissioner had also surveyed the Jama Masjid of Sambhal on 24th November in the presence of both the parties. During this time, there was a lot of violence outside the mosque and the miscreants resorted to firing besides stone pelting and arson. Five people also lost their lives here due to bullet injuries. Sambhal Police has arrested about 3 dozen people including 3 women in connection with this disturbance and have identified more than 400 miscreants.
Amidst all this, the ASI, which manages the Jama Masjid of Sambhal, has filed an application in the court saying that its officers and employees are not being allowed inside for a long time. ASI has requested the court to return the management and maintenance work of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid back to it. At the same time, the Muslim side says that no temple was demolished here. Also, citing the Places of Worship Act, the Muslim side has demanded in the Supreme Court that the petition and survey of the Hindu side be cancelled. On this, the Supreme Court had ordered that until the Allahabad High Court decides on this issue, the Sambhal Court cannot give any further order.
