Regarding Sambhal’s royal Jama Masjid, the Hindu side claims that there was a temple of Kalki avatar of Lord Vishnu. In the year 1528, a mosque was built there on the instructions of Mughal Emperor Babur. The Hindu side also claims that the wells of the Hindu community used to worship in the premises of Sambhal’s royal Jama Masjid, but later the puja was stopped in the well inside the mosque at the behest of Shafiqur Rahman Burke (now late), who was SP MP from Sambhal. In this case, a case is now going on in the court.
