New Delhi. Former Principal of RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, Dr. Sandip Ghosh has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. In his petition, Ghosh has asked the Supreme Court to remove the comment of the Calcutta High Court linking the rape and murder of the doctor to the corruption charges against him. The former principal also says that the High Court did not hear his side before handing over the investigation of the financial irregularities case against him to the CBI. The Supreme Court will hear Sandip Ghosh’s petition on September 6.
Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, arrested in the corruption case, was sent to CBI remand for 8 days by the court on Tuesday. Along with Sandeep, CBI had also arrested RG Kar Medical College employees Afsar Ali, Biplab Singha and Suman Hazara. The court has sent all of them to CBI custody for 8 days. Former Deputy Superintendent of Medical College Akhtar Ali had made several serious allegations against Ghosh and claimed that Dr. Sandeep Ghosh used to take money in everything from posting, transfer to hostel allotment. He used to take 20 percent commission in the name of tender orders. Not only this, Ali had also accused Ghosh of being involved in a racket selling unclaimed bodies.
Ali had said that Ghosh is also involved in the racket of smuggling of biomedical waste and medical equipment in Bangladesh. Earlier, during the hearing of the rape and murder case of a female doctor, the Calcutta High Court had also reprimanded Sandeep Ghosh and the Mamta Banerjee government. The High Court had ordered Ghosh to go on a long leave. Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association has also suspended the membership of Dr. Ghosh. Sandeep was the vice president of the Kolkata branch of IMA. The CBI has also conducted a polygraph test of Dr. Ghosh.
