Schools and colleges have been closed in districts like Trichy, Ramanathapuram, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. Orange and red alerts have also been issued for these areas. State Chief Minister MK Stalin has held a high-level meeting in view of the seriousness of the situation. Along with this, 7 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Cuddalore districts.
