New Delhi. There was a huge uproar in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on the issue of restoration of Article 370. The situation ranged from snatching to fighting between the MLAs. The bouncers had to intervene and throw the MLAs out of the House and due to the uproar, the Assembly proceedings were adjourned for some time. In fact, a banner demanding restoration of Article 370 was shown in the House by MLA Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh, brother of MP Engineer Rashid. Opposition leader Sunil Sharma expressed strong objection to this. After this, an uproar started in the assembly and soon the MLAs started fighting.

The banner shown by MLA Khurshid Ahmed Shaikh in the Assembly read, We demand the release of all political prisoners along with the restoration of Section 370 and 35A. BJP MLAs protested against this and reached Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh through the well of the House and tried to snatch the banner from his hand. Then Sajjad Lone, Waheed Para and some other National Conference MLAs clashed with the BJP MLAs in support of Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh. A day earlier on Wednesday, a proposal to reinstate Article 370 had been passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
On one hand, BJP is strongly opposing it, while on the other hand, PDP and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), including the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, want its reinstatement. On August 5, 2019, the Narendra Modi government abolished Section 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, Jammu and Kashmir was divided from a complete state into two union territories, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. In the recent assembly elections held after 10 years, all the local parties there had promised restoration of Article 370 in their manifesto.
