New Delhi. Sealdah Court Judge Anirban Das, while giving his verdict in the RG Kar Medical College case, also highlighted many flaws related to the investigation of the case. While raising questions on the lax attitude of Kolkata Police, the judge also questioned the activities of the then Principal of the Medical College, Sandeep Ghosh. The judge said that since the initial investigation of the case, the police has had an indifferent attitude towards the matter. At the same time, the hospital authorities linked this case to the suicide angle to save themselves from questions. It seems the officials wanted to suppress something.
Justice Das also questioned the police for the delay in registering the complaint of the deceased doctor’s parents. He asked why the police administration made the victim’s parents wait till 6 pm on August 9, 2024 to lodge a complaint? What I do not understand is why the policemen of Tala Police Station kept everything behind the scenes and why such illegal acts were carried out by the concerned officer of Tala PS? The judge directed the Kolkata Police Commissioner to take strict action against the illegal and indifferent acts of the police officers.
In his order he said that I feel that the police personnel carrying out such illegal and indifferent acts should be dealt with very strictly so that no one can escape. The judge also suggested that officers should be given proper training regarding the investigation. Let us tell you that Justice Anirban Das has sentenced Sanjay Roy, convicted in the murder case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College, to life imprisonment. However, the court has not considered this as the rarest of the rare case.
