On 26 July, a senior Indian Army officer violently attacked four Spicejet employees at Srinagar International Airport. The military officer attacked the employees when he was sought an additional cabin baggage fee. In this attack, one employee’s spinal cord was broken and another suffered a serious injury to the jaw.

According to SpiceJet, the passenger had a 16 kg cabin baggage, while the allowed limit is only 7 kg. When the employee sought an additional fee, the officer refused to pay the money and tried to forcibly enter the aerobridge from the boarding gate. CISF personnel brought him back to the gate, but the situation deteriorated after that.

Blood started falling from the employee’s nose and mouth
The officer beat the employees from the stands, kicks and even the stand in the queue. An employee fell unconscious, but the accused continued to kill him. When the other employee bowed to help him, he was kicked on his jaw, causing bleeding from the nose and mouth. The four employees were hurriedly admitted to the hospital. One has a spinal fracture, and the other has suffered deep injuries in the face and jaw.
Video and investigation
Spicejet has handed over the video and CCTV footage of the incident to the local police. The FIR has been lodged, and the process of putting the officer in the no-fly list has been started. The airline has written a letter to the Ministry of Civil Aviation demanding strict action.
The identity of the army officer was not stated
So far the identity of that army officer has not been made public. No official statement has yet come from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
