Delhiites faced cold on Tuesday, with the weather department predicting “cold days” ahead. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.6 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees above normal. On Monday it was 10.3 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has predicted a “cold day” with dense fog at most places in the early morning. The department said that the sky is expected to remain clear later, while there is a possibility of mist or light fog in the evening and night.
The maximum temperature is expected to be 15 degrees Celsius.
It is called a “cold day” when the minimum temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius and the highest or lowest temperature is at least 4.5 degrees below what is considered normal for a given period. It is also called a “cold day” when the minimum temperature is below 4 °C.
The Meteorological Department has predicted similar cold in the next few days. Meanwhile, at 9 am the air quality was recorded at 248 which fell in the ‘poor’ category.
According to data provided by Sameer App, five out of 31 monitoring stations recorded air quality in the ‘severe’ category on Tuesday, with the AQI crossing the 400 level.
These stations include Jahangirpuri, Nehru Nagar, Patparganj, Vivek Vihar and Wazirpur.
The 24-hour air quality index (AQI) at 4 pm on Monday stood at 173, which was in the ‘moderate’ category. AQI between 0 to 50 is ‘good’, 51 to 100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 is ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 is ‘poor’, 301 to 400 is ‘very’. ‘Poor’ and between 401 and 500 are considered ‘Severe’.
