A Shankar and ES Jairam have resigned from their respective positions by the Secretary and Treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
Both of them have taken moral responsibility of a stampede during the victory ceremony of IPL Champion Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), killing 11 people. Shankar and Jairam said in a joint statement that they have submitted their resignations to the KSCA president on Thursday night.
The statement said, “Due to unpredictable and unfortunate events that have happened in the last two days, we want to tell that we have resigned from their posts as Secretary and Treasurer of Karnataka State Cricket Association. Even though our role in this was very limited. ”
KSCA President Raghuram Bhat, Secretary Shankar and Treasurer Jairam had said in the Karnataka High Court that it was not the responsibility of the Gate Management and the mob management association and sought permission to organize the ceremony in Vidhan Saudh.
The honor ceremony in Vidhan Saudh was concluded without any major disturbances, but there was a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
