New Delhi. To snatch the NCP election symbol ‘watch’ from his nephew Ajit Pawar, his uncle Sharad Pawar has played a new trick. The Sharad Pawar faction of NCP has filed a petition in the Supreme Court and appealed that both the factions of the party be given a new election symbol. Assembly elections are going to be held in Maharashtra in November this year. It is believed that the Sharad Pawar faction is trying to somehow snatch the NCP election symbol from Ajit Pawar’s faction before that. So that he cannot go to the public in the Maharashtra assembly elections by saying that he has the real NCP.
The petition appealing for a new election symbol for both factions of NCP has been filed by Congress leader and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi on behalf of Sharad Pawar faction. After filing the petition, Singhvi also demanded an immediate hearing on it from the Supreme Court. The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan has also given the date of 25 September on this. On the petition for a new election symbol for both factions of NCP, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that until it is decided who owns NCP among Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar, both factions should be given a new election symbol.
The important thing in this case is that after seeing the letters of support from MLAs and MPs on behalf of Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, the Election Commission considered Ajit Pawar’s faction as the real NCP and decided to give them the election symbol of clock. This decision of the Election Commission has already been challenged by Sharad Pawar’s faction in the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court orders to give a new election symbol to both the factions of NCP on the petition of Sharad Pawar faction, then it can create problems for Ajit Pawar faction in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Also, if the court’s decision comes in favor of giving different election symbols to the two factions of NCP, then Uddhav Thackeray can also file a similar petition and appeal to Eknath Shinde faction to take back Shiv Sena’s election symbol bow-arrow and arrow and give them a new election symbol. In such a situation, Eknath Shinde faction will also have to face trouble.
