The mother of the martyred policeman Mudassir was awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Draupadi Murmu.
Srinagar: A few days after the Pahalgam terror attack, Jammu and Kashmir officials have taken 59 Pakistani citizens back to Punjab to send them back to their original country. According to officials, Pakistani citizens living in the valley for decades were gathered from various districts and taken to Punjab in buses, where they would be handed over to the border to Pakistani officials. These included the mother of martyr constable Mudassir Ahmed Sheikh, who was awarded the Shaurya Chakra. Shamima Akhtar, the mother of constable Mudassir Ahmed Sheikh, who was martyred while fighting terrorists in May 2022, was one of the exiled people. However, he was later allowed to stay here.
Shamima’s brother -in -law Mohammad Yunus said in a careful clarification that the martyr Mudassir’s mother had returned home and was not taken for exile. Yunus said, “We are grateful to the Government of India.”
Amit Shah met the family
Earlier, Mudassir’s uncle had said that her sister -in -law belongs to Pakistan -occupied Kashmir, so she should not have been exiled. He said, “My sister -in -law is from Pakistan -occupied Kashmir, which is our region.” Only Pakistanis should be deported. ”He said that after Mudassir’s death, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had met the family and the Lieutenant Governor also came to meet the family twice. Yunus said, “When my sister -in -law came here, she was 20 years old and she has been living here for 45 years. (Prime Minister Narendra) I appeal to Modi and Amit Shah that they should not do so. ”
Terrorist conspiracy failed
Shamima married retired police officer Mohammad Maqsood before the spread of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir in 1990. In memory of the policeman, the main square of Baramulla city has been named Shaheed Mudassir Chowk. According to Mudassir’s citation, he was awarded posthumously in 2023 with the third biggest honor of peace for his role in thwarting a major terrorist conspiracy to target the Amarnath Yatra.
Despite being injured, a scuffle with a terrorist
On 25 May 2022, reliable intelligence information was received about the activity of three foreign terrorists armed with heavy weapons in a vehicle, which intended to attack the Amarnath Yatra. In response to this information, a rapidly joint campaign was launched by security forces in Baramulla, North Kashmir. Experienced and vigilant member of the campaign team constable Mudassir Ahmed Sheikh showed readiness and challenged the suspected vehicle. Sensing the imminent danger, the terrorists tried to escape. Sheikh took decisive action by attacking the vehicle, not caring for his security. Introducing the bravery, he pulled a terrorist out of the car. After this, the remaining terrorists started firing indiscriminately, due to which Sheikh was seriously injured.
Despite suffering from too much bleeding and unbearable pain, Sheikh did not lose courage and continued to scramble with the captured terrorist. Eventually they killed her. However, the injured Sheikh succumbed while taking them to the hospital. Shamima along with her husband took the award from President Draupadi Murmu in Delhi in May 2023.
