Giving information about the court action, advocate BS Thakur, representing the Waqf Board on the alleged construction issue of Sanjauli Mosque, said that a notice was issued to the Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board by the Municipal Corporation Shimla regarding unauthorized construction. We have submitted the reply and documents in the court. The matter related to the construction is pending in the court. Today the court asked about the ownership and through documentary evidence we told the court that the mosque is the property of the Waqf Board since 1947, when Waqf properties were surveyed across India.
The lawyer said that the concerned officials will file the status report of the property. We will give our reply regarding the funding on the next date of hearing on October 5. It is worth noting that the Hindu organization says that a five-storey building was constructed in Sanjauli Mosque without getting the map passed and without permission for construction work. Now the people of the Hindu organization are adamant on the demand to demolish the mosque. Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh in the Congress government also raised this issue in the assembly and demanded the demolition of the illegal construction. A controversy has erupted over this issue.
