Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer has created history in the IPL. He has now become the first captain of the league to take three different franchises to the playoffs. Earlier, Iyer also brought Delhi Capitals (2019, 2020) and Kolkata Knight Riders (2021, 2024) to the playoffs. Now he has also reached the playoffs of 2025 with KKR.
KKR won by 10 runs against Rajasthan Royals, leading the team 17 points and confirmed a place in the playoffs. Batting first in this match, Kolkata scored 219 runs, which contributed to Nehal Vadhera (70 runs), Shashank Singh (59 not out) and Iyer (30 runs). Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 runs) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (40 runs) gave a good start for Rajasthan Royals, but the team stopped at 209/7. Harpreet Brar of KKR broke Rajasthan’s expectations by taking 3 wickets.
Shreyas Iyer has now joined the selected players who have captained three different IPL teams. These include Steve Smith, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Ajinkya Rahane. But Iyer and Sangakkara are the captains who have fulfilled the full -time captaincy of the three teams.
This achievement shows Iyer’s leadership ability, continuity and his success in the IPL.
