Dehradun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Breakthrough program of the Silkyara tunnel on Wednesday. Significantly, in the year 2023, 41 workers were trapped within 17 days during the construction of the Silkyara tunnel. All the laborers were safely evacuated under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the rescue operation conducted under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The Silakyara tunnel is an important project in terms of Chardham Yatra. The length of this double lane tunnel project costing about 853 crore is 4.531 km. The tunnel construction will reduce the distance between Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham to 26 kilometers, which will give better convenience and time saving passengers. The completion of this project will increase the possibilities of trade, tourism and employment in the area, which will also strengthen the local economy.
The Chief Minister congratulated all the engineers, technical experts and workers associated with the project on the occasion of Silkyara Tunnel Breakthrough. He said that this historical opportunity is not only a symbol of the success of advanced engineering, but is also a living example of the power of faith and dedication. He said that the Silkyara Tunnel campaign was the world’s most complex and longest rescue operation. Every person associated with it set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork. This incident was the real test of technical and human resolutions, all united and made this campaign a success. Chief Minister Dhami said that the whole world was eyeing the Silakyara campaign. Due to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and full cooperation of the Government of India, the state government successfully conducted this challenging campaign. This rescue campaign also took support of modern resources and experts available in the country and the world. The Chief Minister said that the patience that the workers trapped in the tunnel showed, this encouraged us.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also participated in the Pran Pratishtha program at Baba Bakhnag Temple. For Pran Pratishtha at Baukhnath Temple, Chief Minister reached Silkyara with his house in Dehradun with a gift and worship material. For the safe rescue of workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel, the Chief Minister himself camp during the Silkyara campaign and continued monitoring and directing the rescue campaign. For the success of the rescue campaign, the Chief Minister had resolved to build the temple, asking for a vow from Baba Boukhanag.
The Chief Minister prayed to Baba Boukhanag for the prosperity of the state and the happiness and prosperity of the people. He said that when Baba Boukhanag enshrined on the face of the tunnel, the trapped laborers could be taken out. At that time, he had announced to build a grand temple of Baba Boukhanag. Today, due to the life prestige of the temple, the resolution has also been fulfilled and the devotees will also be able to receive the blessings of Baba Boukhanag. The Chief Minister said that during the tunnel construction, 41 workers were trapped in this tunnel in a sudden landslide on November 12. At that time people from all over the country were praying to God for the skill of these workers. In the dark tunnel, where the rays of hope were also getting tarnished, Baba Boukhanag infusing power and faith as the protector of the mountains.
