The government has taken strict measures to stop fraudulent mobile connections and spam calls. The Ministry of Communications has recently informed that with the help of the Sanchar Saathi platform, fraud numbers are being identified and closed. So far more than 1 crore mobile connections have been closed. TRAI and DoT are constantly making efforts to improve telecom services, which includes measures to solve problems such as network availability, call drop rates and packet drop rates.
Action on spam calls and fraud connections:
To stop spam calls, TRAI has instructed telecom companies to shut down suspicious connections and blacklist them. So far, about 3.5 lakh mobile numbers have been shut down and 50 companies have been blacklisted. Also, 3.5 lakh unverified SMS headers and 12 lakh content templates have also been blocked, so that people can be saved from unwanted calls and messages.
Mobile handsets linked to cyber crime:
With the help of Sanchar Saathi, 2.27 lakh mobile handsets have been blocked so far, which were involved in cyber crime and financial fraud. This is also curbing cyber crimes.
New regulation:
TRAI has implemented new regulations from October 1, 2024 to improve telecom services. In this, now the performance of telecom services will be monitored every month, which was earlier done on a quarterly basis.
