According to the Meteorological Department, due to the effect of western disturbance, there are chances of more snowfall in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The cold is continuously increasing in Jammu and Kashmir and the minimum temperature has reached below zero at many places. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam in Kashmir valley was recorded at minus 2.3 degrees. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 1.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Jammu remained at 10 degrees. The Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall and light rain in the high altitude areas of the state for the next 2 days. Light rain may also occur in other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Meteorological Department has said that snow may fall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh. Dense fog may also occur in many districts including Mandi. The lowest minimum temperature in Himachal was recorded in Reckong Peo. The minimum temperature recorded here was 2.7 degrees Celsius. The temperature is continuously falling in Uttarakhand also. There are chances of snowfall in the higher reaches. For Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department has said that there may be dense fog in many areas. The effect of increasing cold in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is also visible in Delhi and other plain states. The minimum temperature in Delhi remains around 10 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the Meteorological Department says that with the increase in cold, fog may also occur in Punjab, Haryana and UP.
The Meteorological Department says that now the cold will increase in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh also. Whereas, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain in West Bengal and Kerala. The Meteorological Department has already said that this year there is an effect of La Nina. Due to the effect of La Nina the surface temperature of the Pacific Ocean decreases. It is quite cold when La Nina is active. According to the Meteorological Department, we will have to face severe cold this year. Due to the effect of La Nina, this year’s monsoon season has seen more than average rainfall.
