His family donated his ‘Pind’ on the banks of the Kshipra River in Ujjain on 12 June 2025 after the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during a honeymoon in Meghalaya. The ceremony was attended by Raja’s brother Sachin and Vipin as well as his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother Govind.
Govind said that he was not aware of the relationship of his sister Sonam and his alleged lover Raj Kushwaha. He said, “If I had known that there was something between Sonam and Raj, I would advise him to run away with Raj or get married.”
Govind expressed solidarity with Raja’s family, saying that he is embarrassed for his sister’s mistake and if Sonam is found guilty, he should be punished. Meghalaya Police has arrested Sonam, Raj and three other accused- Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi.
According to the police, the murder conspiracy was hatched in Indore in February, and Raj Kushwaha was the mastermind of it. Sonam took the king to Meghalaya on the pretext of visiting the Kamakhya temple and killed him in the forest. On May 23, the king was killed and the body was thrown into the ditch near Wisong Falls. Sonam first made the story of kidnapping, but surrendered in Ghazipur on 9 June. Raja’s brother Sachin has demanded a narco test on Sonam and Raj so that the whole truth comes out.
