Kushinagar: Police in UP’s Kushinagar have exposed a gang involved in circulating fake currency notes. It is alleged that this gang was being run by Mohammad Rafiq Ahmed, national secretary of Lohia Vahini of Samajwadi Party (SP). According to Kushinagar Police, the SP leader’s gang also has connections with Nepal. Police claim to have arrested 10 criminals of the gang and recovered fake currency notes worth 5.62 lakh, 1.10 lakh rupees and 3000 Nepalese rupees. According to Kushinagar Police, 10 pistols, 30 live cartridges, 12 fired cartridges and 4 cotton bombs were also recovered from the arrested members of the gang.

Kushinagar police has also recovered 13 mobile phones, 26 SIM cards, 10 fake Aadhar cards, 10 debit cards, 8 laptops and 2 vehicles from the arrested people. According to the police, this gang had created a big network to circulate fake notes in UP and Bihar. The police is also investigating who else the gang members are connected with. For this, the mobile call records of the arrested people are being scrutinized. On this basis, there are full chances of more people being arrested.
Kushinagar Police claims that SP leader Mohammad Rafiq Ahmed was running the gang. He is accused of causing economic loss to India by circulating fake notes. Police have accused him of doing fake note business in the border areas of UP and Bihar. According to Kushinagar Police, there are 11 criminal cases against SP leader Mohammad Rafiq Ahmed. Meanwhile, Aurangzeb and Parvez Ilahi, who are part of the gang, have 8 cases each, and Naushad and Sheikh Jamaluddin have 4 cases each. Gang member Niazuddin also has several cases registered against him. Regarding the gang, Kushinagar Police says that it used to operate at the international level.
