New Delhi. Samajwadi Party has distanced itself from the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi alliance (MVA) in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray’s party leader Milind Narvekar wrote in a social media post on December 6, “Congratulations to those who demolished Babri Masjid.” Angered by this, SP’s Maharashtra chief Abu Azmi decided to separate from the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance. He said, we are mourning, they are expressing happiness. Abu Azmi said that I have not yet talked to my leader Akhilesh Yadav in this matter but I am sure he will agree with my decision.

Abu Azmi said that following the issue of Hindutva and congratulating those who demolished Babri Masjid is not in the agenda of Samajwadi Party. He said that when Uddhav Thackeray had joined the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance, he had said that instead of talking about Hindutva, from now on talk about secularism, but after the recent assembly elections, Uddhav went back on his words. He said in one of his statements that he and his party still stand on the Hindutva issue.

Along with this, Abu Azmi also alleged that the leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi never talked to us in any way regarding the incidents that happened before the assembly elections and today in the special session of the assembly. If the Mahavikas Aghadi MLAs were not to take oath today and had to stage a walkout, then I too should have been informed about this decision at least once but it was not done. Therefore, we are separating from the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance. SP has two MLAs in Maharashtra. Let us tell you that the MLAs of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena UBT, raising questions on EVMs, refused to take oath and walked out of the House.
