Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav
Due to tension between India and Pakistan, 24 airports of the country have been closed by the morning of 15 May. In such a situation, the Railway Minister held a meeting with the officials and has given instructions to run special trains according to the need of the people. At the same time, special trains have been arranged by Indian Railways for the passengers who were trapped due to the closure of Jammu and Chandigarh Airport.
The arrangements made for railway operations were reviewed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. After taking full stock of the situation, he instructed the railway officials to coordinate with various government agencies and operate vehicles to assist people in the border areas. Along with regular trains, special trains should also be operated as required.
Four special trains will run from Jammu
On May 9, 2025, four special trains were operated from Jammu and Udhampur on the instructions of the Railway Minister. Railways operated the first special train 04612 from Jammu station at 10:45 am in which 12 coaches were installed in unreserved category and 12 reserve classes. The 20 -coach Vande Bharat Express left Udhampur at 12:45 pm and came to New Delhi via Jammu and Pathankot. A special train with 22 LHB coaches was operated from Jammu station at 7:00 pm. Another Vande India special train was operated which will open from Jammu at 3:30 pm and reach New Delhi station in the evening.
