Cyclonic storm Fengal is coming
The deep depression over south-west Bay of Bengal turned into a cyclonic storm on Friday afternoon. Indian Meteorological Department gave this information on Friday. The cyclonic storm named ‘Fengal’ is likely to reach near Puducherry on the afternoon of 30 November. During this period the wind speed can be up to 90 km per hour.
Will make landfall on Saturday afternoon
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the deep depression formed in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a cyclone. Currently the system is centered 380 km south-east of Chennai. Once it turns into a cyclone, it is likely to move north-westwards and make landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram by Saturday afternoon.
There will be heavy rain in these parts
The Meteorological Department said that the cyclonic storm has been officially named Fengal. Heavy rain is expected in some areas of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Friday and Saturday. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in districts like Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya.
Fishermen should stay away from the beach
IMD has also issued a warning of strong winds reaching speed up to 75 kilometers per hour in the southern coastal areas. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea. Fishermen who are already in the sea have been urged to return to the shore immediately.
Special alert issued for ports
Due to Cyclonic Storm Fengal, Phase 3 warning has been issued at Krishnapatnam and Nizampatnam ports of Andhra Pradesh. Phase-1 alert has been issued at other ports of Andhra Pradesh.
