Students protest continues in Patna, Prashant Kishore gave support, lathi charge and water cannon used on students

New Delhi. Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) paper leak case has created a big controversy. Thousands of students gathered at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Saturday regarding this issue and demonstrated strongly. The students have warned of gheraoing the Chief Minister’s residence and are continuously demanding to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Use of lathi charge and water cannon on students

To control the demonstration, the police first lathicharged the students and then resorted to water cannon. The students were trying to move towards the CM residence, to stop which the police had barricaded at many places.

Prashant Kishore also participated in the demonstration

Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishore also joined the students in the demonstration. He appealed to the students to maintain peace and said that if the government ignores the demands of the students, they will stand in their support with full force. Prashant Kishore said, “Students should not take any step which is against the law. The government should listen to their demands.”

Clash between students and police

Moving from Gandhi Maidan towards JP Golambar, the students broke the barricade and were stopped at the second barricade near Hotel Maurya. Despite this, the students are adamant on their demands and are continuously trying to move towards the Chief Minister’s residence.

There will be talks with the Chief Secretary

Prashant Kishore said that the government has asked the protesting students to appoint five representatives, who will meet the Chief Secretary. “If the students are not satisfied after talks with the chief secretary, further strategies will be made,” he said.

District administration statement

Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh said that the protesters will have to nominate five of their representatives, after which their meeting with BPSC officials will be ensured. The District Magistrate assured the protesting students that efforts would be made to resolve their problems soon.

Questions on the role of government and commission

The students allege that the paper was leaked due to the negligence of the BPSC administration and the government did not take it seriously. The protesters are demanding that this matter be thoroughly investigated and strict action be taken against the culprits.

Protest continues, situation tense

Heavy police force is deployed in Gandhi Maidan and surrounding areas. Despite the aggressive stance of the students and talks between the administration, the situation remains tense.
