New Delhi. The Supreme Court today rejected the petition filed against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice J. B. The bench of Justice Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra said in its order that court proceedings cannot be to defame institutions. The court also said that it was completely inappropriate for the Madras High Court to order an investigation into the ashram on such a petition. The Supreme Court had already stayed the investigation order given by the High Court.
Actually a retired professor S. Kamaraj had filed a petition in the Madras High Court against Isha Foundation. In his petition, he had alleged that his two daughters have been forcibly kept hostage in the ashram. Taking cognizance of this petition, the High Court had ordered the police to investigate Isha Foundation Ashram and file a status report. Following the order of the High Court, a large number of police forces had also arrived to investigate the ashram. After this, Isha Foundation challenged the decision of the High Court in the Supreme Court. During the last hearing, the Supreme Court spoke to the two women whose father had alleged that their daughters were forcibly kept hostage in the ashram and heard from them.
Both the women told the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that they were living in the ashram of their own free will. After this, the Supreme Court had stayed the action order given by the High Court. After this, in today’s hearing, the Supreme Court bench, citing the statements of those two women, said that they are living in the Yoga Kendra Ashram on their own free will, hence the habeas corpus petition filed by their father against the Ashram will have to be closed.
