New Delhi. The Supreme Court has pronounced the verdict regarding the civic elections in Maharashtra. The apex court has directed the Election Commission to issue a notification for local body elections within four weeks. The court also said that the election process should also be completed in four months. Due to the pending many issues raised in relation to OBC reservation, screws were stuck in the local body elections in the state. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh said that the issue of OBC reservation in local body elections would remain the same as the 2022 Banthia Commission report.

At the same time, Justice Suryakant said a lot on the issue of OBC reservation. In December 2021, the apex court had said in its judgment that reservation for OBCs in the state’s local body election would not be given permission until the government completes the triple test set in the 2010 order of the Supreme Court.
