New Delhi. In the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi Masjid case, today the Supreme Court, on the petition of the Hindu side, has issued a notice to the Gyanvapi Masjid Management Committee and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct an ASI survey of the sealed area of the ‘Vazukhana’ inside the mosque. The Hindu side has claimed that ‘Shivalinga’ was found in the Gyanvapi Masjid complex during a videographic survey. The Supreme Court has given 2 weeks time to the Muslim side and ASI to file their reply.

Giving information about the Supreme Court proceedings, advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain said that the case was listed before the court under a very limited interim application seeking ASI investigation of the sealed area of Gyanvapi. On May 16, 2022, we claimed that ‘Shivalinga’ was found in the so-called Vazu area. Whereas Anjuman Arrangement Committee denies this. The committee says that what is being described as Shivalinga in the Vazu area is a fountain. We had demanded ASI investigation of this Vazu area and filed an IA (interim application) before the Supreme Court which was listed.

In this, notice has been issued by the Supreme Court today in this matter and the court has asked Anjuman Arrangement Committee and ASI to file their reply within two weeks. Along with this, all the cases will be listed before the Supreme Court on December 17. Let us tell you that the Hindu side has been claiming from the beginning that Gyanvapi was not a mosque but a temple complex which was converted into a mosque by the Mughal ruler. Several petitions related to this matter have also been filed in the district court of Varanasi. At the same time, the claim of Hindus is being refuted by the Muslim side.
