New Delhi. While hearing the Voter List Special Intensive Revision (SIR) case in Bihar, the Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to include the Aadhaar card in the documents submitted by the voters. Along with this, the court also surprised the attitude of political parties opposing SIR. The court raised the question and said that the political parties which were still opposing the special intensive revision of the voter list, now why not have a single objection to so many days after the draft was published.
The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said that political parties have one lakh 61 thousand booth level agents, despite not a single objection was lodged. Let us tell you that the Election Commission has cut the name of about 65 lakh voters from the voter list. Its draft list was published on 1 August. The Election Commission had said that any political party that had objections, registering objections within a month of draft publication, the name of such people can be added to the voter list (after verification of the document) which is left out for some reason. Now even after so many days, there is not a single objection yet.
At the same time, the Election Commission has not included the Aadhaar card for the 11 documents which have been considered valid for SIR, the court has issued an order today. On the other hand, the Election Commission has stated in its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that the full details of the 65 lakh voters of Bihar have been cut from the voter list have been uploaded on the website of the State Election Commission. The court directed the Election Commission to do so in the last hearing.
