New Delhi. The Supreme Court has imposed a fine of 25-25 thousand on the Delhi Development Authority DDA officials for cutting trees without approval in the ridge area of Delhi, the capital of the country. The bench headed by Justice Suryakant of the Supreme Court has given this verdict in the case on Wednesday. The Supreme Court has said in its judgment that the DDA chairman and the then Vice Chairman at that time will not be prone to the court. Justice Suryakant, while delivering the verdict, said that it is a case of institutional lapse and administrative negligence.
Justice Suryakant has described the cutting of trees in the ridge area of Delhi as serious. Justice Suryakant said that the contempt case will not run on the DDA concerned officers, but the departmental inquiry will continue in this case. A bench of the Supreme Court said that the cutting of trees in the ridge area is the result of misuse of power and the wrong decision of administrative officials. The court said that even though the road is to be widened for the hospital, the decision to cut trees without approval is completely wrong. The court said that those people who took advantage of the road should be identified. Payments should also be taken from them. A bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Suryakant said that DDA needs to be improved.
The Supreme Court has also formed a committee of 3 members. This committee will see that if there is a need to plant new saplings instead of trees cut in the ridge area, then work should be started and started work on it. This committee will also submit a report to the Supreme Court from time to time. The Supreme Court has asked the DDA to get the connecting road built. The possibility of planting saplings there will also find a committee. The Supreme Court had earlier stated that the 1996 order is that approval would be taken before cutting the tree and that order was not accepted. The court had said that the fact of cutting of trees was hidden. The wrong example was also established by not giving deliberate information and it comes in criminal contempt. The court had asked the Vice Chairman of the DDA whether he cut trees with approval from LG of Delhi? The court had said that he would not take the matter lightly.
