New Delhi. The Supreme Court refused to hear a petition demanding an FIR against Justice Yashwant Verma surrounded in the cash burning case. Justice Yashwant Verma is currently a judge in the Allahabad High Court. While being a judge of the Delhi High Court, Justice Yashwant Verma was accused of burning a lot of cash due to the fire in the store room of his government house. Supreme Court Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K.K. Vinod Chandran’s bench said on a plea by lawyer Mathews Nedumpra to register an FIR against Justice Yashwant Verma that this is the third petition in the case. Which has been demanded for early hearing.
The bench of Chief Justice asked the lawyer if you want this petition to be rejected now. Justice BR Gawai said that the petition will be heard on time. The lawyer said in the court that it is not possible to dismiss it. There should be an FIR. The lawyer told the Supreme Court bench that now it seems that Verma is talking about this. There should be investigation and FIR in this case. When the lawyer said, the Chief Justice immediately questioned whether he is your friend? The court said that he is still Justice Verma. Chief Justice Gawai told the lawyer how you are addressing him? Save some reputation. You are saying this about a learned judge. He is currently a court judge.
On this, advocate Nedumpra said that he does not think that greatness applies to Justice Yashwant Verma. On this, the court said that you should not order the court. Justice Yashwant Verma has also filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court. Justice Verma has appealed in his petition that the report of the committee investigating the cash burning should be canceled. Justice Yashwant Verma says that the inquiry committee reversed the law and asked him to prove the allegations false. Justice Yashwant Verma is alleged to have caught fire in the store room of his government house on 14 March 2025 when he was a judge of the Delhi High Court. There was talk of burning a lot of cash in that fire. After this, the then CJI Sanjeev Khanna formed a three -judge committee to investigate the allegations against Justice Verma.
