New Delhi. The Supreme Court heard the Waqf Act on Thursday afternoon. The Supreme Court directed the Center to respond in 7 days on the request of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. The next hearing on the Waqf Act will be held on 5 May. The Supreme Court also said that it will hear only 5 petitions filed against the Waqf Act. The Supreme Court asked the petitioners to extract 5 main points from these petitions. Also directed the Central Government not to appoint non -Muslims in Waqf Boards and Waqf Council till further orders. It also said that the Waqf Bike user and Waqf by deed properties should not be denotified. The court also said that it has already told that some things are positive in the revised Waqf Act. In such a situation, the entire law cannot be given a stay. Please tell that Kapil Sibal, a lawyer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, appealed to stay the Waqf Act on Wednesday.

A 3 -judge bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that the status quo would not change until the central government’s reply comes. The Chief Justice also said that it is not possible to read 110-120 files related to the Waqf Act. In such a situation, the main 5 points against the Waqf Act should be decided. The Supreme Court will now hear only 5 objections. The Chief Justice asked the lawyers of the petitioners to decide these 5 objections through the Nodal Council. During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that there is no basis for staying the Waqf Act. Stay will be unnecessary strict steps. He also said that such a court order will have a huge impact.

After appearing in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Central Government, the Solicitor General also said that the government is accountable to the public. Tushar Mehta said that the government received millions of representatives. Village to village Waqf have been included. He said that so many lands are claimed to be waqf. It is considered part of the law. The Solicitor General told the Supreme Court that he wanted a week’s time to file an initial reply with some documents. Tushar Mehta assured the Supreme Court that no appointment would be made under the new Act in Waqf Boards and Waqf Council. He also told the court that this is not a case that can be considered in this way.
