New Delhi. The Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission to give complete information about the 65 lakh people removed in the special revision (SIR) of voters in Bihar by 9 August. Justice Suryakant, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. The bench of Kotishwar Singh on Wednesday also directed the Election Commission to provide complete information about the voters removed in Bihar besides all political parties besides the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
The Supreme Court bench told the Election Commission that the court needs information about whichever voter was removed in Bihar. On what basis, whose name was removed, tell them. At the same time, the Election Commission counsel earlier said that all political parties have been given a list of names which have been removed from Bihar’s draft voter list. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the ADR, said that the Election Commission has given a voter list to all parties, but has not told how many voters died, who started living out of Bihar permanently and who was a voter of more than one place.
The Election Commission had told during special revision of voters that the names of 65 lakh people are being cut in Bihar. The Election Commission said that the deaths of voters, permanently shifting to other states and those who are named in the voter list have been removed. After doing this, the Election Commission released a draft voter list for the Bihar assembly elections on 1 August. The Election Commission has fixed the date till 31 August for claims and objections. However, not a single claim and objections were made till 9 am on Wednesday. SIR in the Supreme Court is now to be heard on August 12.
