Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the family of a victim who died during a stampede in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati. Chief Minister MK Stalin also expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the incident.
Stalin, in a condolence message on social media platform My heartfelt condolences to the injured.
“Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has announced a consolation and financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the family of a man from Salem district who was killed in the stampede at Tirumala Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh,” a statement said.
Six people died in a stampede during ticket distribution in Tirupati on Wednesday night. 40 others were also injured in this accident. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Angani Satya Prasad told reporters, “We cannot replace lives with anything else, but we will assist the families. We have announced Rs 25 lakh.”
Tirupati Collector S Venkateswara said adequate arrangements have been made ahead of Vaikuntha Ekadashi starting on Friday. Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan will be organized at Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Temple from 10 to 19 January. It allows devotees to pass through the sacred gate to receive the blessings of Lord Venkateswara.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made by TTD and the district administration for Vaikuntha Ekadashi this year. Adequate number of police personnel were deployed at all the ticket counters (9) in Tirupati and (1) in Tirumala,” Venkateswara told reporters. We also monitored the areas. At this particular location, there was some unfortunate incident regarding the opening of the gate.
Meanwhile, offline tokens for darshan have been made available at various distribution centers set up in Tirupati.
