Haryana’s YouTuber and travel blogger Jyoti Malhotra have been arrested for spying for Pakistan. He is accused that he carried out suspicious activities during the visit to Shri Jagannath Temple (Puri) and Mahakaleshwar Temple (Ujjain).
The Puri police is investigating whether Jyoti had flown a drone at a sensitive site like Shri Jagannath Temple in 2024, which falls in a no-fly zone. Following the incident, the Odisha government has initiated the idea of imposing anti-drain technology to monitor the temple’s safety and drone activities.
He has also been questioned by the Madhya Pradesh Police in the context of Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple visit. No disturbances have been revealed in that journey of April 2024, but the administration is watching it as a precaution.
On 16 May, Malhotra was arrested under Sections 3 and 5 of the official secrecy act, 1923 and Section 152 of the Indian Penal Code. It is alleged that he shared confidential information by staying in touch with an officer named Danish working in the High Commission of Pakistan.
