The death toll in the explosion at the drug plant of ‘Sigachi Industries’ in Pashmalaram in Sangreddy district of Telangana has increased to 35. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
District Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj told ‘PTI-language’ that the number of dead has increased to 35. However, he did not give more information.
He said in the morning, “Many bodies buried under it have been recovered while removing the debris. 31 bodies have been removed from the debris, while three people died during treatment in the hospital. The final phase of the rescue operation is still going on. ”
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy along with some of his cabinet colleagues reached the accident site.
On contacting, a senior official of Pranam Hospital in Miyapur said that 21 people were admitted on Monday who had a head injury and there were marks on the body. He said that two were declared dead on Monday and one died this morning.
A senior officer of Dhruv Hospital in Patnacheru told ‘PTI-language’ that 11 patients were admitted on Monday, two of which were referred to Superspeciality Hospitals.
The official said, “Five of nine patients are on ventilator. Seven patients hospitalized have scorched 40-80 percent and two 10 percent are scorched.
According to a revenue department official, nine bodies have been identified so far, while DNA needs to be matched to identify the remaining bodies. Most of the dead were from other states like Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar.
It is suspected that Monday’s fierce accident occurred due to a chemical reaction, which also caused the fire.
