New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has written a letter to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena demanding a ban on the demolition of temples and Buddhist religious places in the capital. Calling it a matter related to the beliefs of the Dalit community, the Chief Minister has appealed to save religious places. Chief Minister Atishi wrote in his letter, “On the orders of LG Saheb, instructions have been given to demolish temples and Buddhist religious places. No temple or religious place should be demolished in Delhi. Dalits have faith in Buddhist religious places and demolishing any religious place can hurt people’s sentiments.”
CM Atishi alleged that the religious committee sent the file for demolition of the temple to the Lieutenant Governor without showing it to the Chief Minister. Describing it as against the rules, he said that such a step can hurt public sentiments.

LG Saxena wrote in his letter, “This was not only an insult to you, but also an insult to His Excellency the President and me as his representative.”
On CM Atishi’s letter, LG Secretariat said, “Neither any Temples, Mosques, Churches or any other place of worship being broken/demolished, nor has any file to this effect. CM is playing cheap politics to divert attention from her and her predecessor CM’s failures. If at all,… https://t.co/oSyF14XlIO
