'Temples and Buddhist religious places should not be demolished in Delhi', CM Atishi wrote a letter to LG, know what he said

New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has written a letter to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena demanding a ban on the demolition of temples and Buddhist religious places in the capital. Calling it a matter related to the beliefs of the Dalit community, the Chief Minister has appealed to save religious places. Chief Minister Atishi wrote in his letter, “On the orders of LG Saheb, instructions have been given to demolish temples and Buddhist religious places. No temple or religious place should be demolished in Delhi. Dalits have faith in Buddhist religious places and demolishing any religious place can hurt people’s sentiments.”

CM Atishi alleged that the religious committee sent the file for demolition of the temple to the Lieutenant Governor without showing it to the Chief Minister. Describing it as against the rules, he said that such a step can hurt public sentiments.

LG had written a letter to CM Atishi

Before this controversy, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had written a letter to CM Atishi on a statement of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In this letter he alleged that Kejriwal called Atishi a “temporary chief minister”, which is highly objectionable. LG Saxena wrote in his letter, “This was not only an insult to you, but also an insult to His Excellency the President and me as his representative.”

On CM Atishi’s letter, LG Secretariat said, “Neither any Temples, Mosques, Churches or any other place of worship being broken/demolished, nor has any file to this effect. CM is playing cheap politics to divert attention from her and her predecessor CM’s failures. If at all,… https://t.co/oSyF14XlIO

political atmosphere heated up

After LG’s letter, Delhi politics heated up. Aam Aadmi Party leaders hit back and raised questions on the Lieutenant Governor. At the same time, BJP also jumped into this controversy. BJP MP from Delhi Praveen Khandelwal said, “The questions raised by LG Saxena about Arvind Kejriwal are correct. Chief Minister Atishi is defending former Chief Minister Kejriwal.”
