There was fog in Delhi on Friday morning and the minimum temperature was recorded at 11.3 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the air quality remained in the “very poor” category and the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 373. The AQI was recorded in the “severe” category at nine of the 38 monitoring centers in Delhi.

According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, these centers are Anand Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Nehru Nagar, Shadipur, Sonia Vihar, Vivek Vihar and Wazirpur.

An AQI of four hundred or more is considered in the “severe” category and can pose a serious risk to health.

Delhi’s air quality crossed the “severe” category for the first time on Sunday, prompting phase four restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Monday morning.

These measures include a complete ban on construction and demolition activities, closure of schools and strict restrictions on vehicles.

The humidity level in Delhi at 8:30 am was 97 percent and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light fog throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be 27 degrees Celsius.
