Three passengers aboard a bus died after falling into a deep gorge in Bhimtal area of Nainital district of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. This information was provided by the police
Police said that the Uttarakhand State Transport Corporation bus going from Almora to Haldwani lost control near Amdali and fell into a deep gorge 1500 feet below the road.
Bhawali police area officer Sumit Pandey said that at the time of the accident, there were 27 passengers in the bus, out of which three died. He said that 24 passengers injured in the accident are being sent to the Community Health Center of Bhimtal for treatment. He said that 15 ambulances are being sent from Haldwani to the spot so that the seriously injured can be immediately taken to higher health centers.
As soon as the information was received, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire brigade and administration teams reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations with the help of local people.
Due to the bus falling 1500 feet, rescue operations are becoming difficult and the injured have to be brought up from the ditch by carrying them on shoulders with the help of ropes.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the bus accident. He wrote in his message on the social media platform ‘X’, “The local administration has been directed for immediate relief and rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the passengers.
