Before the assembly elections to be held in the capital Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a big gift to the people of the national capital. He on Sunday inaugurated the 13-km long section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor from Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. The PM also rode the Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad station to New Ashok Nagar station. During this, PM Modi interacted with children and people. A girl also recited a poem to the PM.
With the inauguration of the Delhi section of RRTS, Delhi has got NaMo Bharat connectivity for the first time. There is a 55 km long RRTS corridor between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, which has 11 stations. This corridor will open for passengers from 5 pm on Sunday. Trains will be available for people every 15 minutes.
The fare from New Ashok Nagar station to Meerut South station is Rs 150 for standard coach and Rs 225 for premium coach. The new section will reduce travel time by one-third, allowing passengers to travel from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just 40 minutes.
Six kilometers of the newly inaugurated 13 kilometer section is underground and includes the corridor’s main station Anand Vihar, a major transit hub with links to the Blue and Pink lines of the Delhi Metro, a railway station and a bus terminal. There is an interchange with. This is the first time that Namo Bharat trains will run on the underground section and will run in Delhi. The New Ashok Nagar RRTS station will also have an interchange with the Blue Line of Delhi Metro.
The cost of construction of this part of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor is around Rs 4,600 crore, the official statement said. This will greatly ease the travel between Delhi and Meerut and millions of passengers will benefit from fast and comfortable travel along with excellent safety and reliability. Before the inauguration of the Delhi section, the Prime Minister had inaugurated the 17 km priority section between Sahibabad to Duhai depot on October 20 last year.
