The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said on Wednesday, four days before his 90th birthday, that the Dalai Lama’s organization will continue.
At the same time, he ended the uncertainty whether he would have any successor after him or not.
The Dalai Lama, who was given in Tibetan language on May 21, 2025 and in a statement issued by his office in Dharamshala on Wednesday, said that the Gaden Fodrang Trust has the only right to recognize the future Dalai Lama.
The fourteenth Dalai Lama – Tenjin Gyatso, also known as Lahma Thondup, began on June 30 at Sugalagkhang, the main temple of McLeodganj near Dharamshala.
The statement said, “I confirm that the Dalai Lama’s institution will continue and I reiterate that the Gaden Fodrang Trust has the only right to recognize future rebirth.” There is no right to intervene in this matter. ”
During a meeting of heads of Tibetan spiritual traditions on 24 September 2011, the Dalai Lama said, “I made it clear in 1969 that the concerned people should decide whether the rebirth of the Dalai Lama should be continued in future or not.”
He had said that when he turns 90, he would consult the high Lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions, the Tibetan people and other people who follow the Tibetan Buddhism, to evaluate whether the organization of the Dalai Lama should be continued or not.
The Dalai Lama’s statement released here said, “I received messages from Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhists living in other parts of the world through various channels, requesting that the organization of the Dalai Lama should be continued.” I confirm that the Dalai Lama’s organization will continue. ”
He said that the responsibility of recognizing future rebirth is on the members of the Gaden Fodrang Trust, the Dalai Lama Office, who should consult a reliable religious guards who have been integrally associated with various heads of Tibetan Buddhist traditions and the lineage of the Dalai Lama. The statement said, “They should complete the process of discovery and identity as per tradition.”
